It’s time for a
simple solution
We Get It
Have you ever left a controlled substance CE with more questions than when you started? Have presentations about the DEA scared you away? We get it. At Simple Solutions, we approach controlled substance compliance proactively rather than reactively. Through education and training, remediation and some supportive hand-holding along the way, we help all veterinary professionals learn how to “operate smarter” and properly to reach the goal of being DEA compliant.
Don’t Bury Your Head in the Sand
When implemented correctly, the right compliance program will equip you and your team with the knowledge and knowhow required to reduce risk and the potential for drug diversion and reward you with peace of mind knowing that if the DEA were to show up, your company will survive.
Ignorance in Bliss…Until Its Not
DEA non-compliance is risky and can lead to costly fines, reputational damage and, if left unmanaged, can potentially cost you your license and business. Unfortunately, all of the years (and money) you spent in veterinary medical school does not entitle you to a DEA registration. A DEA registration to order controlled substances is a privilege, not a right, and that right comes with responsibilities and requirements that must be met. But, regulations are confusing and expectations are not clearly defined..

Even though she has never performed a spay, cleaned a cage, or read a radiograph, Kelley Detweiler brings a world of experience to the veterinary profession. With a background in the pharmaceutical, health care, supply chain and veterinary worlds, Kelley’s knowledge makes her a great resource for controlled substance and regulatory compliance for the veterinary profession.
With her network of retired government agents, investigators and security experts, she has put together a team to help the veterinary profession implement proactive solutions to DEA and state regulatory compliance requirements. Her companies, DEA360, Kolibry and Simple Solutions for Vets (with Dr Peter Weinstein) work with the veterinary profession on education, audits, and when needed remediation. Having visited over 800 veterinary hospitals, she has a great feel for the needs, concerns and challenges that the veterinary profession faces.
Kelley is a highly regarded expert, speaker, and author, Safeguarding Controlled Substances, and Let’s Talk Drugs.
When Kelley is not grabbing a hose and rushing head long into putting out fires, she is a human parent (two kids), pet parent (too numerous to count kids), and philanthropist. She has committed herself to helping the veterinary profession be better prepared for DEA and related regulatory issues. Her ultimate goal is to prevent the diversion of dangerous drugs to the street to protect our kids and our communities.
